Don’t you just love it when your husband lets you know last minute that it’s someones birthday tomorrow? Luckily for me (or him I should say!) I have my Cricut Maker to help me whip up something really quickly. Almost everyone loves to get flowers, so I decided to make a ‘birthday flowers’ vase, and pop some flowers in before we head down for their celebration.
Cricut and Douwe Egberts to the rescue! Well, and me of course!!
As you may know from my previous coffee jar and sauce jar makes, I do love to recycle empty jars. They make for a perfect vase, and I love that I’m giving something that would otherwise go to recycling, a new lovely purpose.

Upcycled Coffee Jar “Birthday Flowers” Vase
What I love most about this particular make, is that I don’t have to worry about if the person likes it enough to keep it out on display all the time! (totally awkward if they hate it!) Haha! They can just get it out once a year on their birthday, for their birthday flowers.
At the bottom of this post you can download the SVG for FREE, to cut through your cutting machine, and add to your own birthday vase.
The weeding on this design was pretty easy. I really need to challenge myself more in future, as I keep creating really easy designs!
I always keep all my scraps of vinyl, because there will always be a design that will fit one of the scraps perfectly! That was the case here, thankfully.
As much as I would love to justify the cost of buying the official Cricut tools, I’m currently perfectly happy with my dentist tool kit from Amazon, which cost under a tenner! They do a great job for the simple designs I currently make. Perhaps when I start doing more complicated designs I may find the Cricut tools more comfortable. We’ll see.
And done! So easy. Now to put some flowers in, and pretty it up to be more ‘gift-like’. I’m putting in some tulips – they’re my absolute favourite flower, because I love the streamlined look of them and the block colours.
Ta-da! I think this looks so pretty…. Ok ok, so my wrapping leaves a lot to be desired! Wrapping is not my forte. But it’s definitely something I’d like to practice and be better at.
